What's in your TiVo? | February 20, 2006
You can play even if you have a generic DVR, or even if you don't have one at all, and you just record with a VCR or watch the old-fashioned way. So, what do you watch regularly.
I'll go first (don't die from exhaustion before you reach the end; and keep in mind I am not caught up on all of those shows. I am, in fact, behind on most of them right now). OK, so my Season Passes are:
24
Alias (if it comes back)
The Amazing Race (catching the repeats on GSN, and will TiVo the season that starts NEXT WEEK!)
American Experience
Arrested Development (I know it ended, but I'm not ready to remove it from my TiVo yet)
Battlestar Galactica
Beauty & the Geek
Bones
Boston Legal (I usually don't watch this; I TiVo it for Nolan)
The Colbert Report
Courting Alex
The Daily Show
Dancing with the Stars
Deadwood (catching up on season 2 repeats)
Entourage (catching up on season 2 repeats)
Everwood (please come back, Bright Abbot)
Everybody Hates Chris
Gilmore Girls
In Justice
Inside the Actors Studio (although I go through my TiVo "To Do" list and delete episodes I am not interested in before they record; Jennifer Lopez, for example)
Intervention
Joey (if it ever returns from "hiatus")
Kappa Mikey
The L Word (I TiVo this for three other people, but I don't watch)
Lost (I stopped watching in season 1, but am trying to watch again via DVD and TiVoing season 2 to catch later)
My Name is Earl
Frontline
Huff (catching up in repeats)
Off to War (repeats on Discovery Times)
The Office
Oregon Field Guide (for Nolan)
Prison Break
Scrubs
The Shield
Sleeper Cell (catching up in repeats)
Smallville (I quit watching this last season, but the hype about someone dying in the 100th sucked me back in)
Supernatural
Veronica Mars

I don't have a TiVo, but I have the shows I watch regularly and it's shocking how much my list resembles your list, which basically tells me that I watch too much.
But I knew that before.

My TiVo went back to the store unopened, once I discovered that you need to pay a subscription service fee. I had, up until it died recently, built my own PVR. What I recorded was:
Battlestar Galactica
There were also a few movies here and there I'd get, but that's it. What I watch besides BSG:
Football
Rescue Me
And if I remember:
that Earl show, whatever it's called. I think it's brilliant.

Veronica Mars, Supernatural, My Name is Earl, Everwood, Gilmore Girls, Numb3rs, Prison Break (of course on hiatus)... yes, I have no life.

TiVo is working overtime for you. I have bunches of season passes but I'm mainly TiVoing the Olympics...since we have an infant and can't watch anything on time!

I don't have Tivo and haven't been able to find the vcr connections since I moved. Oh well, keeps me from getting hooked...until I start watching on Netflix.
You have been watching season 1 of Lost forever. :)
I thought courting Alex got cancelled.

I don't have Tivo and as a caveat to the list I'll pretty much watch anything in reuns so except for Becker, I didn't include that amazingly lengthy list.
Becker (discovered in reruns, an amazingly funny)
Boston Legal
Joey (hoping hiatus will be over soon, too)
Desperate Housewives
ER (when the spirit moves)
CSI (the real one, not NY or Miami)
Will & Grace
Project Runway
Reba
Twins
Four Kings
Numbers
Medium
Conan O’Brien
Craig Ferguson
Dave Letterman
Ellen
Celebrity Poker Showdown
Inside The Actor’s Studio
Movies That Changed The World
Ebert and Roeper

Great idea! So good, I just went ahead and "borrowed" it as a blog entry of my own... figured I didn't need to bog down your comments with 61 TiVo Season Pass entries... my list is here!

Haha, this is so funny, I was having this exact conversation the other day with my friend. I don't have TiVo, but my VCR works overtime...
24
West Wing
Grey's Anatomy
Prison Break (oh, how I long for March to get here)
Gilmore Girls
Supernatural
Veronica Mars
Charmed
Lost (although I haven't been too into it lately)
Smallville
ER (again, not so much lately)
Colbert Report
The Daily Show
Alias
The Amazing Race
Battlestar Galactica (catching up via Netflix)
MI-5 (ditto on the Netflix)

Why was 24 not on your TiVo list?
Posted by: Darcy | February 21, 2006 10:20 AM
OK, first I forgot Intervention and In Justice. Then I was reminded TWICE that I forgot 24. I also read Rick's list and realized I forgot Inside the Actors Studio. I *think* all of my season passes are on this list now. How crazy that I cannot even keep track or remember them.
Also, I haven't heard Courting Alex was canceled. I think it's doing quite well in the ratings actually! But I can understand the confusion since everything else has been canceled.

When I first read your list I was all like "Damn girl, you watch a lot of TV!". Then I realized that my list if pretty long also.
Here you go:
Lost
My Name is Earl
Veronica Mars
Law & Order (SVU, CI, original)
The Office
7th Heaven (although I hate, hate, hate this show I watch. Just so I can bitch about how horrible it is and how much I hate, hate, hate it!)
Arrested Development (I'm with you on this!)
Bringing Home Baby
Intervention
Seinfeld (good to watch when nothing else is on).
*I'm not sure what others I have. I'd have to look at home.

Oh my goodness that's a crapload of TV!!
I just watch Lost and Gilmore Girls.
There are other shows I might watch if I catch them -- Law and Order, and L&O SVU, for instance. But pretty much, my viewing has dramatically changed since moving into a house without cable!!

I don't have a Tivo either, but my regular shows are:
Prison Break (ugh I hate the hiatus)
Gilmore Girls
Lost
Veronica Mars
Everwood (if it ever comes back)
The OC (it sucks these days but I still remember when it was good)
Project Runway (second only to Amazing Race)
Amazing Race (best reality television show ever)
Survivor
Dancing with the Stars (so sad it is about to end)
Other than that I watch a TON of sports, mostly college basketball at the moment (go Duke!)

This is a great idea. It would also make a great Tell It To Me Tuesday. If I gave you props, would you mind?
I DO have a tivo but there are a few things I watch that aren't season passed. Why? Mainly bc they are on the same time. For that I use the downright prehistoric VCR.:)
Tivo Season Passes: (absolute faves starred)
Desperate Housewives
Stella (on hiatus, if ever coming back)
Grey's Anatomy *
The Office *
Arrested Development (ditto your comments) *
SNL
The OC
Best Week Ever
ET on MTV
Reno 911 (hiatus)
One Tree Hill
Invasion
Intervention
It's Always Sunny In Phiadelphia (hiatus)
Days of Our Lives (for mockery purposes only)
Gilmore Girls
Showbiz Show with David Spade (hiatus)
Family Guy
Another World

Those I VCR
Amazing Race
Degrassi
Dancing With the Stars
Beauty and The Geek
Entourage (my tivo can't do a certain number of cable channels for some reason)

As someone without TiVo or cable my viewing is limited. But my must-see/do NOT interrupt MoMMY shows are:
My Name is Earl
Scrubs
Alias
Lost
Grey's Anatomy (I can't believe you do not watch this!)
Others I try really hard to catch:
The Office
Boston Legal
Desperate Housewives
2 & 1/2 Men

Holy buckets you should've just listed the shows you DON'T have on your Tivo. I'm obsessed with The Office and 24. I don't Tivo either of them though, I don't have much of a life so I'm usually around when they are on. I love Intervention too. One episode featured a heroin addict from Madison, WI. She worked at a "bath house" as a prostitute. I lived in Madison for 7 years and had not a clue that there was a "bath house" anywhere. And they say there is nothing to be learned from television.

Battlestar Galactica, NBC Nightly News, a few local cable shows in NYC, Curb/Enthusiasm, Bill Maher, All the Sunday Morning Talk Shows, PetKeeping with Marc Marrone, Carnivale, Monk, and Medium.
Cheers,
Mr. H.K.

I can't stand having to explain to my children
that TAR is being shifted to 10PM. Now it" been
dropped from Sun-Weds. Now it's not listed in my
new TV guide book. Did they take it off the air?
It was the only interesting show, family feud and
match game are so old. I can"t let my children or
my grandchildren watch anything to win or Poker,
although I watch Blackjack, with Hollywood Dave.
He's funny.
