I hate Hurwitz! | March 29, 2006
That might be going a bit far, but I am irritated at Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz right now. What a quitter.

Don't hate Hurwitz. But I feel with you.

I think Hurwitz did the right thing - AD was never, ever going to get the respect it deserved. I don't think the concept of AD would have worked as well on cable - for the obvious reason being that the very cleverness of the show was enhanced by the fact that they had to dance around the FCC/Network boundaries. Besides, it's always better to go out On Top - hopefully, this way Hurwitz will have more respect when shopping around with his next project.

I'm OK with it, too. He must be exhausted by now -- fighting to keep the show on, to keep it sharp, to keep it his. And even if they loved him and didn't screw with him, just writing those fuckers must be draining because there's so much going on and it's all so funny. I'd be much more unhappy if he'd come back and it sucked. At least he went out on a high note and somewhat on his own terms.
