"The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage" | September 21, 2006

G4 TV, the somewhat obscure cable channel dedicated to video games, continues its expansion into non-gamer shows. G4 recently began airing re-runs of "Arrested Development," and now comes news it has partnered with Mel Brooks to create an animated version of "Spaceballs."

According to The Associated Press, "Brooks, 80, will write the pilot episode and voice two of the show's characters."

"Spaceballs: The Animated Series" is scheduled to begin airing in Fall 2007.

There are, of course, far too many memorable lines from "Spaceballs" to reproduce here, so I'll let IMDb.com do it. (And, really, the excuse to post a link to that page was the prime motivation behind this post.)

That is so awesome. I think I officially love G4. My sister will probably die when she reads that "Spaceballs" will be an animated series. She LOVES that movie!

You know, that could either end up being very good or very, very bad.

BTW, you were totally right about Studio 60. Absolutely brilliant!

My god I love the scene where the alien pops out of the guy's chest and starts singing and dancing. That is possibly the funniest scene in any movie ever.

Nothing to do with this post, but I am dying to hear your take on The Office from last night. I loved it. Super funny. I totally laughed out loud during a few scenes.

(Although I was left feeling like I missed something in regards to Jim and Pam. I didn't like how that went.)

(I have Studio 60 taped, but haven't watched it yet. At least I think I have it taped.)

I thought "The Office" was spectacular. Almost every scene was hilarious, and Ed Helms was great.

I'll try not to spoil anything, but seeing the Stamford branch was a lot of fun. Also, Roy's mug shot was one of the funniest things I've seen in a very long time.

Spaceballs is almost my favorite movie. I say to my boyfriend at least once a week "I see your shwartz is as big as mine." Tee Hee! I'm a bit apprehensive about an animated series, but I will be tuning in. I even have that network! Amazing.

And "The Office" was awesome. I totally want a Gaydar.
