Wow, I'm such a slacker | September 13, 2006

To make up for my absence, a few fun bits:

First, how do we feel about the new TVGuide.com? So far, I think it makes my computer run slower. But I still love the site and its writers (and the podcast crew, of course).

How about that Big Brother finale? Of course, Will or Janelle or Danielle should have won All-Stars, so the final 2 was pretty anticlimactic, but I was glad it was a Chill Town member (even if the wrong one). And the real fun stuff was seeing everyone reunited and having the first five evictees spill the beans about everything that went down. It was awesomely uncomfortable, I thought.

I didn't vote for anyone after last night's Rock Star: Supernova, because ... I got bored and didn't watch. I already know I love Toby and Magni. And to have them all sing the SAME original song just annoyed me. They should have the opportunity to showcase other originals, I think. Grrr.

Who watched Men in Trees last night? If you missed it, the pilot will repeat right before the second episode on Friday. And it's pretty awesome, so do give it a chance.

And, by the way, am I the only one who doesn't care much about Lonely Girl? I know Virginia Heffernan, the REAL TV Goddess, does.

The thing about Lonelygirl is that it was one of those things like War of the Worlds on the radio or like the first Survivor finale... one of those experiences that will be impossible to repeat. So getting taken in by it was kind of fun for those people who were in the know. Even the crying and tears, now, are part of that experience. It was a seminal moment in an internet video-viewing subculture. By the way, this just reaffirms, for me, the role television has and should continue to have. Janet Jackson's boob touched our whole society, and Lonelygirl reached relatively few. Network television is available to everyone. I wish the networks would realize that we actually want to watch them!

I am so happy to hear that GG's first ep is good. The optimism you generate makes me smile. Thanks for the reassurance.

As for the John Mayer album, Continuum? It's good. If you like blues or the sound akin to Otis Redding and his genre, you'll find it worth the time to listen to and enjoy.

Lastly, where's your boxed list of day by day tv show? I miss seeing what you've scheduled TiVo to record... I know you already wrote about it but I love your visuals. :D

Okay, what is this lonely girl thing?

Yes, what is the Lonely Girl?

Also, Lucas? Are you kidding me?

And hopefully I didn't spoil anything for you.

I was unaware of Lonely Girl until I saw her "exposed" on a morning talk show.
I need to go find out who won Big Brother. RS:SN fell apart when Storm left. They need to have a better format with the final four.
