Is it just me? | October 19, 2006

So, I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like Veronica Mars might have lost some of its magic. I don't know. Maybe it was just a weak episode, but I found myself thinking this is more and more like every other teenage drama (Veronica in a cheerleader uniform, anyone? And worrying so much about Logan cheating on her? I thought she was more secure than that).

Am I alone in feeling this way, or have some of the rest of you been disappointed?

I can't even admit to it. Because (as you know) I just love the show so much.

I think they are trying too hard to get an audience. It's sad, really.

I don't even buy the relationship between Logan and VM. I mean, they are in love but they never hang out? That is totally odd to me. I guess their chemistry is better when they are fighting all the time.

(My husband is loving all the little costumes they are having VM in this season. Perv.)

I'm with Isabel, hate to admit it, but it has been rather disappointing so far. With any luck though it will pick up, they were doing so well up until this point.

Yeah, it is a little bland.

Hmmm, I've liked this season so far and I think the show still has a lot of potential. It seems they have been using these episodes to "place" characters, so to speak (like having Weevil work at the school). Also, I love, LOVE Veronica working in the library - it seems to be a not-so-subtle homage to Buffy, I guess.

I will give you the weak Veronica/Logan storyline. It was one thing for Logan to be a rich loser in high school, but they need to give him some purpose now. It's a bit harder to just float through college without flunking out.

It's just you DeAnn.

*SMILE* I just felt like saying that.

Cheerleader? I thought she was dressed like an athlete, a field hockey player or something. Her uniform had a number and it didn't look anyting like a cheerleader.

And Veronica isn't secure at all when it comes to people lying to her. She believes that everybody lies, everybody cheats, everybody betrays -- because that is mostly what she has observed in her life. It's not that she's *insecure* but she just has no faith in anyone other than her dad. And maybe Wallace. Plus, the Kendall thing is still hanging over her head, and she's not one to quickly forget that kind of thing. She wants to believe in Logan but he doesn't make it easy.

But you're right that the tone has changed a bit: the network has pushed the producers to lighten up and simplify the mysteries, in the hope of bringing in the GG audience.
