Is it sweeps or something? | October 25, 2006
I think it must be, because two of my favorite shows have been having sweeps-caliber episodes lately.
First, there was The Amazing Race, with those awesome Chos (I hold that if karma plays a role, they'll win it all or give it up to one of their friends) staying in it and the very undeserving Peter getting Philiminated and then getting called unkind by Sarah. She was putting it mildly. I hate him. HATE. (And this is from someone who didn't hate Jonathan or Colin. So ... that's saying something.) I'm so happy to see David and Mary hanging in. I don't even hate Rob and Kimberly. I hate to say this, but my two least favorite teams are the all-girl teams. They have the most bickering and do the most snotty/evil things to others. Which I don't like, ever (except on Big Brother, when it's hilarious; I'm a complicated person).
And then, there was Heroes, which somehow -- despite being awesome -- keeps getting better every week. I almost cannot believe how riveting it is. I don't think Niki's husband, D.L., is bad, though. I think he's taken the fall for her alter ego's crazy killing sprees. I do, however, think Nathan might be bad. And I'm not sure what to think about the cheerleader's father. I mean, he's obviously evil, but I liked that he actually got angry about his "daughter" being hurt by Brody. Although, come to think of it, maybe he just wiped Brody's memory because he knows about Claire's powers. Anyway, it's getting very awesome. I love how all of the heroes are coming together and finding each other one by one. This has definitely become one of my two new favorites (along with Ugly Betty), and is appointment television.
(By the way, did something happen to the people of America that made them decide to love the two best shows on TV? That almost never happens. Anyway, thank you Nielsen families. You are right. For once.)

I really need to break down and start watching Heroes. Sounds like I'm missing a lot.

See...I have been refusing to watch Heroes even though I have been hearing good things. Mainly because I am a huge fan of the 4400 and it seems like somewhat or a rip off. A show about these seemingly normal people getting extra ordinary powers...and the powers having a particular purpose in possibly saving the world. It sounds pretty 4400 like to me...sans the alien abduction angle, etc.
I was tempted to watch the Heroes marathon last Sunday, but ended up deciding against it.

Seriously- Monday is the new Thurday! I remember the good ole days of really looking forward to Thursday. I used to refer to it as Friday Eve. But now? Besides, Ugly Betty, I wait to watch CSI, Earl, and The Office for when I have time over the weekend. However, on Mondays, I am starting to watch things as they are actually recording. Huge improvement, for sure.

I love heroes and I agree with you that despite I find it riveting it gets better each week. I'm starting to have a feeling that Nathan is evil too, but maybe that's becuase he plays a politician. HA!!!

I adore Heroes. I adore Hiro. I'm thinking that DL has powers of his own because he just seemed to show up where Niki had already looked. Which makes me wonder if Micah will have powers as well? Not sure.
But yeah, this show is superb!

Amen to your perspectives on Heroes. Good storytelling pulls the audience in. It forces you to wonder what comes next, and begs you to come back for more. I rarely look forward to the next episode, but I gladly make an exception for Heroes. I can't wait to see how each week unfolds. Definitely a keeper.

I just want to comment on how much I hate the beauty queens. They just seem way too happy all the time. Makes me want to smack them.

I LOVE the Chos. I know I'm late to reply to this, but I'm gonna anyway! :) After they actually stopped at the prisoner of war camp instead of running through the room without even looking like the rest of the teams, I REALLY wanted them to win.
I hope that this plan they have to keep the weak teams with them doesn't backfire. I think they're getting too confident that they can come from that far behind when there's still good, strong teams in it (who keep beating them).

Speaking of sweeps, I hear Studio 60 is on the chopping block. Say it ain't so!
