Preachin... | December 13, 2006

I guess it's time I finally took my friend Jake's advice and read the Preacher comic book series, since it will be coming to HBO. But, the powers behind it aren't people to get too worked up about, according to the TV Guide podcast folks.

But I'll read the comic books, and then I can bet I won't be able to contain my excitement anyway.

Anyone else a fan of Preacher? And, if so, are you excited or worried about the series?

A friend of mine gave me a stack of Preacher graphic novels about a year ago. In about a week, I read them all cover to cover. It's violent at times, sacreligious at other times, darkly funny, and really well written and impossible to put down. When it was over, I felt like I'd watched a movie or a complete miniseries rather than read a comic.

Like Watchmen though, this is something I think was perfect as source material and wouldn't translate well into another medium. I'm curious to see what they do with the series, if it does the books justice. I'll probably check it out.
