Oscars -- my quick (and late) take | February 27, 2007

My quick take on the Oscars:

Best dressed

For me it's a tie between these two lovely ladies:

Worst dressed

Though her face was lovely, I hated this. Why the bow, Anne? WHY?!

I'll let the the fug blog ladies handle the rest of the worst dressed. They're doing such a good job already! As usual. (They also blogged the Oscars, which was great!

And I don't hate Eddie Murphy even though he left early. I think he's anti-social bordering on social anxiety, not pissed. But that might be my deep, abiding love for Bowfinger talking.

Most boring/awkward: Al Gore

Funniest: Jack Black/Will Ferrel/John C. Reilly OR Greg Kinnear/Steve Carrel

Cutest: Jaden Smith and Abigail Breslen

Biggest surprise: "The Lives of Others" for foreign language film, which was a highlight for me because I LOVE that movie. I also loved that the 6-foot-9 director talked about Arnold Schwarzenegger in his speech. How unlikely and hilarious.

Overall, it was a pretty boring awards show. Thank goodness I have a party to make it more fun!

What's YOUR take? (I care, really I do. Despite the boring awards show, I love all of the opinions in the aftermath.)

Totally agree with your picks for best dressed and would like to add Reese Witherspoon as well. Her dressing stunning.

I didn't watch it. I have to say some of the best dressed I was a lil surprised about. But I do have to say I agree with you that they were definitely on my best dressed list. And I do agree on Anne's dress...she's so pretty but the bow??? it made her look like she was 5!

I really liked water which was one of the foriegn films that was nominated. I guess I'll have to watch the Lives of others to see if I agree it was a better movie.

I'll be interested to hear what you think, Meeta. "Water" was my third or fourth choice in the category (after Pan's Labyrinth and Lives AND possibly Days of Glory; I haven't seen After the Wedding yet).

And did you catch that the German guys name is Florian? Which is my sons middle name. Yes, that's what gets me excited these days.

I wasn't sure what the deal was with bows this year. Anna and Nicole, I'm talking to YOU!

And SO BUMMED I missed your party. Please tell me how awesome it was.

didn't you choose 'the lives of others' to beat 'pan's labyrinth'? you are a media goddess.
