I'm never getting to those Netflix DVDs | March 13, 2007

Just when I had come this close to clearing out my DVR, I'm about to get buried under an avalanche of new shows.

FX got the ball rolling Monday night with the premiere of The Riches, with the wonderful Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. The Shield is back April 3, with the hunt for Lem's killer in full force.

Over on HBO, The Sopranos begins its final season April 8, followed by the premiere of Entourage.

This Thursday on NBC, Andy Richter gets yet another chance to prove he can carry a successful series, with the pilot of Andy Barker, P.I. If you want, you can watch the episodes at NBC's Web site right now.

NBC also is trotting out reruns of The Office packaged in something called a "newpeat." I call it "How to cannibalize DVD sales."

And in a bit of news that made me say, "Yay!": 30 Rock's hiatus has been shortened. I fell a little bit more in love with the show last week when they included that sneezing panda.

Thank you for reminding me about "The Riches."

But I don't watch "The Sopranos" (lost interest after season 4) or "Entourage" (lost interest after season 1).

I do, however, watch "The Shield," and I could not be more excited. I also love "30 Rock" and I plan to watch "Andy Barker P.I."

Okay, we watched "The Riches" last night and it was freaky. There was TOO MUCH going on for me to like it. I mean, was it funny or moving or disgusting?? I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

What are your thoughts?

And also...what about "Rules of Engagement"? We love it at our house. The writing is awesome. The acting...not so awesome. I'd love your thoughts!

Man! I missed the Riches! Is it worth my time or no? I was planning to watch it because I love Eddie Izzard, but the busy girl's schedule doesn't really make time for that kind of stuff.

I have The Riches tivo'd but don't know if I can make room for it. I heart Eddie Izzard, too, so I'd hate not to give it a shot. How WAS it?

I thought Eddie Izzard was quite good; I hadn't seen him in a dramatic role before. The pilot was good enough, but I'm not ready to pass judgment on the show yet -- it has some promise but seems like it could easily slip if the writers aren't on the ball.

If you didn't catch Andy Barker, P.I., well, it's obvious Conan O'Brien had a major role. So that means it could be really, really good. You can see all of the episodes at NBC's site right now, but I'm going to hold off and watch them as they air.
