This is the show I used to love | May 01, 2007
I know that many people out there are completely in love with the idea of Veronica and Logan, but if they couldn't see how great Piz is in this episode, "Un-American Graffiti," well ... I can't help them.
All I can say is this: There has not been an episode of Veronica Mars that good at least since season 1 (remember when this show was more than just good?).
So, the Piz-Veronica moments were even better, I think, than the Logan-Veronica kiss in season 1. Mostly because Piz is the nice guy Veronica deserves (and maybe Logan is that guy for Parker, so ... more power to them, but all of the trying to hang out and dating your friend's ex still bugs me in a way I cannot forgive). But what else made this episode so good? We had the full cast of characters: Mac, Wallace, Sheriff Mars, Sacks, Piz, Logan, and especially Dick. Weevil was missing, and I barely noticed.
The verdict is in, then, folks: These stand-alone mysteries are going to be much BETTER than the big, seasonlong mystery because the writers can focus on longer-term story lines dealing with the characters. Thus making a stellar mostly plot-driven show character-driven and cementing it in my heart forever.
Keep your fingers crossed for renewal (before this episode, I wouldn't have been urging this). We should find out in just a couple of weeks!

Ok so I know I love Logan and all, but I can agree that last night's episode was really good. Even though I was angry with some of the dialogue, I was really happy at the end of the show. I'm still not a fan of Logan and Parker, but I was pretty ok with Piz and Veronica kissing last night. I loved the look on her face after he kissed her. She was all ... "oh my. I do believe my breath hath been stolen." or something.
So *fingers crossed* Veronica needs to come back... and it needs to stay in the proper timeline... no skipping ahead 5 years please.

Oh my dear Goddess, I watched last night's episode and really liked Piz (for the first time). He seemed more mature then when he's been on it before. I also really enjoyed seeing all the characters back. I felt like having them all on it was a nod to all the fans who have been demanding we see more of Veronica's friends. Good job Rob Thomas.
The show was AWESOME and the stand alone mystery worked. It really worked.
Oh, maybe you can clarify...I heard that the actor that plays Piz signed on for another show. Does that mean we can assume he won't be back next season?
(Can I also add that I love every scene that takes place in the Neptune Grand elevator!)

Favorite small moment from the episode: Veronica as Jules from "Pulp Fiction" when she accosts the paintballers.

Clarification for Isabel and others:
If Piz (Chris Lowell) signs on for a "pilot" (I believe he's joined the cast of the "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff) first of all, there is no guarantee a pilot gets picked up.
However, if someone is under contract (which I'd assume he is since he's in the credits) with another show, that contract comes BEFORE their new contract. Meaning, when we find out about Veronica Mars, that will affect whether he can/will stick with the pilot. Unless Rob Thomas and company let him out of contract to join the most likely more lucrative "Addison's Anatomy" (which I will be forced to watch if Lowell is on it; just another reason I need "Veronica Mars" back).
