Summer Viewing | August 04, 2007
I think this is a pretty poor summer for TV viewers, especially considering that previous summers have given us American Idol, Survivor, Project Runway (last season), and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. It's not that I expect big blockbuster shows, but summer, lately, has been where one could find some new treat of a series that would get big later. Not so, this summer. Here's what I'm watching, in order of importance:
So You Think You Can Dance
Entourage
Flight of the Conchords
The Soup
Baldwin Hills
Best Week Ever
I also think I'm going to try to get into Damages. Having Glenn Close is reason enough to give something a shot. I also watched the last episode of Big Love and discovered that I actually enjoyed it. I had thought that Big Love would be too heavy on drama for me to enjoy, but this last episode was pretty funny. So my question to you is... what am I missing?
I did learn recently that The Wire is currently shooting the last two episodes of its next season, which means that I can be hopeful that HBO will schedule it for this year, instead of making everyone wait the usual epoch that we have to endure.

I was going to write something similar, but lethargy got the best of me (twice.)
If you want a preview of a fall show (or maybe not, given Fox is doing the adapting), BBC America is showing the most recent season of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. And no, I can't get enough of cooking reality shows, with Hell's Kitchen and Top Chef also on my list. And thanks to the Internets, I've caught up on all three seasons of The F Word.
And even thought G4 is buried somewhere in most people's digital cable lineups -- though my provider thinks it's necessary to provide not one, not two, but three slots for it on my lineup -- it's worth searching out the channel for Attack of the Show, which I was introduced to by friends and which Entertainment Weekly recently praised.
Go ahead, embrace your inner geek.

My summer viewing has consisted of catching up with tons of stuff (Supernatural, Smallville, Weeds and Big Love, so far). And I'm watching:
Big Brother
Damages
John From Cincinnati
Saving Grace
The Two Coreys
I also plan to watch Californication, which begins soon. And I've been TiVoing Heartland and Flight of the Conchords, but not watching yet. And lots of other stuff, actually. I always TiVo way more than I'll ever watch.

I've been watching Top Chef, and catching Kyle XY when I get a chance.

In addition to Big Brother I'm still catching up on Dexter and Weeds on Showtime On Demand. I'm also enjoying Flight of the Conchords. And of course I love me some Hell's Kitchen.
And I'll admit it... I record Young & The Restless every single day.
