Welcome to the Dollhouse casting sides | March 03, 2008

Cool information in the form of casting sides has been leaking about the new Joss Whedon-Eliza Dushku show Dollhouse.
Thankfully for me, b!x has already posted all of the information at his site so I don't actually have to do anything except link to his entry (twice, apparently).
Ausiello posted some descriptions, too, and his choices for casting. (I will say this: Ben Browder? Yes, please!)

They should totally cast the guy that played Andrew on "Buffy" to play Topher Brink, the geeky programmer. He was in the heap that was "Transformers" for like 5 minutes, and then I think Michael Bay did so much blow off of a Playmate that he forgot about that storyline in the editing process. Still, made me miss Andrew. Seems like he'd be a pretty good fit.

OK, never mind that last comment. Just checked the Ausiello link. Tom Lenk, right. Good to know I wasn't alone in thinking that. Also, I love Ben Browder, and "Farscape" might be my favorite TV show of all time, but him against J. August Richards is a hell of a match-up. Gunn versus John Chrichton? There's no telling who'd win that battle. Geeks, get ready to rumble.

How about Nathan Fillion as the FBI dude? Or he can just play Mal Reynolds and the writers can come up with a creative explanation.

Jesus! You could land a 747 on that guy's forehead. I mean, seriously, that thing should have its own zip code. Delta Burke's ass doesn't have that much skin on it!

Joss Whedon will be ill-advised to use any of his alumni from previous shows. This is Dushku's showcase. This is not 'Buffy the Reunion Tour.' Personally I'd like to see Seth Green, Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau, Tom Lenk, Lindsay Crouse... Heck I could cast Dollhouse two or three times over with actors who have worked for Whedon in the past, but the truth is to make this work they need the best people for Dushku - not the past stars for us. I think even cameos of Whedon alumni would be two steps back no steps forward.
