The instant nostalgia thing is overdone -- VH1's I Love the New Millenium: Why? (Not that I didn't watch.)

And what about compiling lists of "new classics," as Entertainment Weekly did with somewhat hilarious results?

But for all the silly lists out there -- intended to generate discussion and/or controversy -- every now and then someone puts serious thought into the process. Pajiba gives us television's 20 Best Seasons of the Last 20 Years.

There are notable shows -- The Sopranos, My So-Called Life and Seinfeld, for instance -- that get nary a mention. That said, it's tough to argue with the shows/seasons that are included, ones that have made major impacts on the TV landscape.
